GENEVA, Switzerland – ¡Bienvenidos a Ginebra! If you are new to Geneva, love films and enjoy Latin American culture, then this is an annual event you need to remember: Festival Filmar en América Latina.

For the past 15 years, cinéfilos have been meeting in Geneva to celebrate films from “the South”.

Filmar showcases about 100 or so films and documentaries in Geneva, surrounding cities in French-speaking Switzerland and neighboring France.

Films are either in Spanish or Portuguese with French subtitles, and a few with English subtitles.

The 2014 edition is heavily focused on Argentine cinema, but of course the selection goes way beyond Gaucho borders to Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.
