GENEVA, Switzerland – The popular Course de l’Escalade broke records today with 36,697 registered runners, that is three thousand more than in 2013.
According to the Agence Telegraphique Suisse, ATS, more women took part in the 7k run – that zig-zags the old town – than ever before, representing 49,85% of all participants. The women’s race was captured in social media among others, by Instagram user GenevaNotaBene and Guillaume on Twitter.

L’escalade is considered one of the most popular runs in Switzerland, and one that attracts people of all ages.
ATS reports that at least 37 persons over 80 years of age took part in the race, while the kids’ run continues to be one of the most popular of this winter sprint.
