Fourteen persons of various nationalities have died in Catalonia, most of them students from the Erasmus program, after the bus that was transporting them back from a fireworks festival crashed.
Jordi Jané, spokesman for the Province of Catalonia said to various press outlets that the driver of the bus carrying students from Switzerland, Norway, the UK, Ukraine, Turkey and Spain, seemingly lost control of the vehicle after hitting a side rail. The impact sent the bus spinning into oncoming traffic.
Those injured, aged 22 to 29, have been taken to Hospital Joan XXIII de Tarragona, Hospital de Vinaròs (Castellón), Hospital de Amposta and Hospital Verge de la Cinta de Tortosa.
It is not yet known the nationality of the victims.
