Venetian Carnival in Annecy, France

ANNECY, France – This weekend, get your fancy mask ready and head to Annecy in neighboring France, for the largest Venetian-inspired carnival in the Lake Geneva region.

Forget guggenmasks, here is all about being mysteriously beautiful.

Find the public masquerade at any street in downtown Annecy from 10:00 to 18:00, and a special show at 14:00 at Jardins de l’Europe on the lake.

Find information on the Carnival of Annecy here.

For those new to Geneva, Annecy is a beautiful medieval city located about 40 minutes south of the city.

If not driving, take an Hautes-Alpes bus from the Geneva bus station or gare routiere; bear in mind that there are less buses servicing the route on weekends (see schedule here).

Here are a few stores where you can find Venetian masks in Geneva. There is also an antiques shop on Rue des Grottes 14, where you can find beautiful old masks.
