GENEVA, Switzerland – Spending New Year’s Eve in Geneva and not wanting to celebrate it at home? Here’s what’s on —and free— during the last eve of 2014 on the streets of Geneva.
The 2014-2015 celebration will consist of not one but three large popular fêtes or reveillons, plus several smaller ones in neighborhoods around the city, each with its own “theme.”
Jonction — Palladium and adjoining square — From 18:00-3:00 — Theme: “a magical atmosphere built around water”
Featuring: DJs, food and drink stalls. In addition, a free masked ball will take place at the Palladium.
The jazz band Big Bang Dardagny Russin will play from 22:00-24:00, then it is up to DJs to entertain the crowd until 3:00.
Sécheron — Rue du Valais — From 13:30-3:00 — Theme: Sports and Families
Starting at 13:30 the Rue du Valais – not far from the UN – is closed to traffic. A roller blade track and fair stands will be set under the bridge, many of them for kids.
From 18:30-20:00 music by the Black Lions; DJs and dancing from 21:00.
Vieusseux – Parc des Franchises — New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day — Theme: Generations and Cultures
On 31 December, starting at 15:00 kids activities, sports, food and drink stalls. DJs begin the evening at 19:00 concluding at 3:00.

Created for those who live alone, older persons or families in need, it takes place at the Plainpalais Community Centre.

The traditional Christmas Circus and the amusement rides fair known as Luna Park, take over the Plainpalais plaza. The Circus offers a possibility for dinner and a show, while Luna Park keeps the cotton candy flowing and the rides open until 3:00.
