“Swiss Customs” SMS and email scam

GENEVA, Switzerland – The Swiss Federal Customs Administration (FCA), is warning residents of a growing phishing scam.

According to authorities, the fake emails and text messages seek to acquire personal and financial information. However:

Swiss Customs would like to point out that it does not send information by text message or e-mail when financial transactions are involved.

In the case of e-mails which originate from Swiss Customs, the sender always has an official address along the lines of: name@ezv.admin.ch.

If you receive a fake email or text message, report it to the Swiss centre for information known as MELANI, and delete it.

Victims of the scam are asked to contact local authorities.
