GENEVA, Switzerland – Next week, the Hotel d’Angleterre hosts a group of American expats seeking to defeat the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), which requires all US persons living abroad to report their financial accounts held overseas.
The controversial FATCA also requires foreign financial institutions to report directly to the Internal Revenue Service about their US clients.
Most – if not all – Americans living in Switzerland have received notification of the measure by their banks, and have had to agree in writing to submitting their account information to the US or risk losing access to banking in Switzerland. (Which would make things impossible while living here).
The dinner meeting takes place 8 October from 19:30 to 22:00.
