GENEVA, Switzerland – More than 80 wine cellars and growers in canton Geneva opened their doors this past Saturday to around 30,000 visitors. Most visitors rode bikes, walked or made use of the special buses provided by the TPG, to go cave to cave.
About 160 families in Geneva live of the production of about ten million litres of wine each year, most of it is consumed locally.
The wine cellars open day in Geneva was created in 1987 as a way to promote local wines which – until then – had a terrible reputation.
