Two men in critical condition after being “violently assaulted” in quiet Geneva neighborhood

GENEVA – Police are investigating a violent beating that occurred on the evening of 6-7 January in the otherwise quiet St Jean neighborhood in Geneva. The attack happened late Friday evening when two men in their 30s were “violently assaulted” near the Milèant bus stop on the Rue de St Jean.

Police indicated the men were beaten by several people at around 1:10 on Saturday.

Witnesses say the assailants fled by rue de Milèant towards the covered train tracks known as the Terrases de St Jean. It is unknown what triggered the attack.

The victims, aged 36 and 37, remain in hospital in critical condition.

Any information that may assist the investigation should be given to the Criminal Brigade at 022 427 72 40.
