Affordable high-end items at Piguet’s auction in Geneva

GENEVA – Over 500 items—including more than one hundred Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Tod’s, and Hermès bags—are for sale at one of the most affordable auction houses in Geneva, the Hôtel de Ventes Piguet.

The sale includes second-hand leather goods, watches, furniture, art and decorative arts, and a selection of fine wines and whiskeys.

But, what makes this sale affordable? The starting price and quality — especially when compared to what is in offer in consignment stores in the area. The price of many items at the Hôtel de Ventes start at under CHF300, while other items have been competitively priced.

This chrome circular etagere in the style of Milo Baughman which recently sold on 1stdibs for over CHF2,000, is for auction at the HdV starting at CHF500 without reserve. (Photo quality does not make it any justice; although, check out the Salvador Dali sculpture on it!)

Selected furniture, fine handbags, and jewelry will be sold at a concurrent silent auction. Simply place a binding bid before the sale begins… and wait.

If your bid meets the minimum reserve and there are no other offers, the item is yours.

Get a glimpse of diamonds, rubies, emeralds, watches and more during the preview set until 12 March at 19:00.

There are lovely (and crazy) items on display.

I truly enjoyed the Studio 54 inspired living room for sale (see below), and a modern, Marie Antoinette’s custom-made bright leather pink vanity set made in Geneva (can one actually use these many adjectives in one sentence?)

Of course there are classics as well, including fine art and furniture.

And for those of you who cannot live without a pink vanity desk, here is one that might tickle your fancy. Originally created by Gautier, Geneva’s own leather goods craftsman, for CHF35,000, it is now set to go to the auction block for CHF1,000. Photo, Piguet catalog.

Find the full catalogue here. The sale is scheduled from 13-16 March at the HdV Piguet headquarters in Plainpalais.

Happy bidding!
