Life in Switzerland

Roger Moore, was one of a handful of celebrities that in the late 70s helped turn Gstaad into a winter playground for the beautiful people. The town, also loved him back,

Acting legend Roger Moore is one of the select members of the exclusive “Eagle Club”, which could only be reached by a dilapidated lift on the Wasserngrat. When it was decided not to renew it, Moore and the other members of the club decided, without further ado, to finance it themselves.

Moore, reportedly, didn’t just enjoy the limelight in Gstaad, but its more subdued moments; he was even photographed milking a cow. “People here are more interested in my car than in me,” he said of living in a town where the famous blend in with the locals.

His daughter, Deborah, married in Gstaad in 1990, in a party that made headlines back in the UK. His son Geoffrey, a local businessman, is considered a stylish jet-setter who lives year round in the Alpine city, where he raises his family.
