GENEVA, Switzerland – Left-wing Colombian Senator Ivan Cepeda, well-known for his stance in defending human rights in one of the most war-ravaged countries in the Americas, is in Geneva today where he will hold a free, public talk about the ongoing peace process in Colombia.
Senator Cepeda will be lecturing at the University of Geneva on some of the “social, democratic challenges” that still remain.
So far the Colombian Government and FARC rebels have reached outline agreements on more than half of the items on their agenda. However, many impediments to peace continue to exist in Colombia.
While in Switzerland, Cepeda met with Carlo Sommaruga, President of the Swiss Committee for Foreign Affairs.
