GENEVA, Switzerland — The annual Mercer Ranking survey has named Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Bern among the top 15 cities with best quality of life.
The survey ranks 231 cities where expatriate most often work, and rates them according to safety, law enforcement, stability, public transportation and certain services.
According to the 2017 edition, the city with the best quality of life continues to be Vienna, Austria (for the eight year in a row). Zurich is in second place. Auckland, New Zealand and Munich, Germany tie for third place.
Vancouver, Canada is fifth, followed by Dusseldorf and Frankfurt in sixth and seventh place.
Geneva ranks number eight, followed by Copenhagen, Denmark.
Basel is 10th and ties with Sydney.
Bern ranks 14th, right after Amsterdam and Berlin in 12th and 13th place.
Germany and Switzerland tie with four cities each ranked among the top 15 spots.
San Francisco is the best placed US city at number 30, followed by Boston and Honolulu in 35th and 36th place.
