GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Napoli beat Barcelona 1-0 in a friendly match in Geneva, the first loss of the pre-season for La Liga’s all-time favorite.
The goal came courtesy of Swiss footballer Blerim Džemaili in the latter part of the second half.
Napoli boss Rafael “Rafa” Benítez might be Spanish but he sure is celebrating his team’s victory. According to the Italian squad website, the “Azzurri were able to stand up to the prepotent” Barça.
The Spanish squad called Lionel Messi for training but not for this game as it had been expected. Napoli won in spite of posing very “little threat ,” said Barça.
Neymar in the meantime has returned to training.
