Where to watch fireworks for the 14 July French National Day
Lake Geneva, France – Happy 14 July France! In a few hours, our neighbors in France will be commemorating the start of the French Revolution (marked by the Storming of the Bastille in 1789) and the beginning of the République with music and fireworks.
Geneva offering free French lessons this summer (and at the park!)
GENEVA, Switzerland – For the second year in a row the city of Geneva is offering free French lessons. Unlike 2015, classes will be given in two parks instead of four; high turn out is expected.

GENEVA – After being away for a while, I came back to Geneva to find music, street theatre, food stalls and a temporary flea market installed at my doorstep: La Ville est a vous de St Jean.

GENEVA, Switzerland – The wildly popular Ville-est-a-Vous—a bizarre bazaar of neighborhood street festivals featuring blocks and blocks of fleamarkets, music and food stalls—is back but, before you head out with your wears, beware. A lack of volunteers and administrative reluctance is severely cutting back the fun.

New festival lives up to Geneva’s sleepy reputation
GENEVA, Switzerland – Is it art, meditation, group experimental performance art or a really cool massive sleep-y festival? I am not sure, but if “bring your own pillow and sleeping bag” is any indication, this sleep concert / nuit sonorisée is a first for Geneva.
Good Friday, Easter around Lake Geneva: markets and processions
GENEVA, Switzerland – Good Friday, an official holiday in 24 out of 26 cantons in Switzerland (strangely not in two of the most Catholic, Valais and Ticino) is commemorated with markets, processions and Via Crucis. Then, on Monday, in addition to religious services a few good Easter egg hunts. Check it out.
